What is PRIME For Life®?

PRIME For Life® is an evidence-based program that creates space for participants to identify their values, reflect on personal choices, and find the motivation to make important life changes. It is designed to help participants change their drinking and drug use behaviors by examining beliefs, internal motivations and risk perceptions. PRIME For Life® also provides people with the skills and knowledge they need to reduce the risk of alcohol and drug-related problems throughout their lives.

Ultimately, PRIME For Life® teaches participants how to protect the things they value most in life through positive lifestyle choices.

PRIME For Life® is a therapeutic education program with demonstrated success in significantly altering attitudes, reducing high-risk drinking and drug use, and reducing recidivism. PRIME For Life® is listed on the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP), a service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The total program is 8 hours long. However, to maximize accessibility to the community we will hold a combination of full day, half day and four 2-hour sessions throughout the year.

  • Nope! There are separate groups for youth, young adults, and adults.

  • When scheduling the class you will be provided with a cost at booking. Factors such as class structure, location, county program involvement, etc. may influence the out-of-pocket cost.

  • Participants can cancel or reschedule their class online up to 24 hours ahead of the class start time. If canceling, they will receive a refund at that time. If participants cancel, don’t show up, or fail to complete the course for any reason (not receive a certificate) then the fees are non-refundable.

  • Everything you need is included in the session fee! Just bring an open mind, your favorite water bottle, and a notebook if you like to doodle.

  • If you attend all of the required sessions/hours and are actively engaged, you will receive a certificate upon completion that you can use for documentation and proof.

  • It does. We will not issue a certificate of completion to anyone who doesn’t attend all the required sessions and/or who doesn’t actively participate when they are present. The instructor is trauma-informed and will do their best to make content engaging and support those who may struggle with social situations. However, we know that participants can only get out of the program what they’re willing to give.

  • Parents (and youth!) may benefit from 1:1 sessions with a peer provider which can be scheduled here on our website. We also offer FREE family group support programming at https://attherootsllc.com/craft
