Adreanna Kniprath

Peer Mentor (She/Her/Hers)

Special Interests: Depression & Anxiety | ADHD | Sexual  Assault Recovery | Physical, Verbal, Financial abuse Recovery | Abortion Trauma | Dealing with a loved one’s addiction

Adreanna grew up in a small church school in Wisconsin Rapids with a narcissistic mother and a father that at the time hadn’t learned to control his emotional range. She was very naive due to this sheltered, church-based lifestyle and it resulted in her not being aware of the potential dangers in the world. This transitioned into her having unhealthy relationships for most of her young adult life.

Struggling to find balance, she catapulted herself into overworking and burned herself out just to find some sense of direction.

Due to undiagnosed childhood anxiety, Adreanna developed a binge eating disorder at the age of 8 and didn’t fully get it under control until she was in her early 20’s.

In college, she was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and antisocial behavioral patterns and she is still actively working to keep these at bay every single day along with her body dysmorphia.

Adreanna eventually found healing when she slowed down and took some time to be with herself and reconnect with her own needs and interests, along with gaining a supportive circle of close friends and family.

She worked with several doctors during her college years to pinpoint her struggles and found comfort in having knowledge of what was going on with her emotionally and physically for the first time ever.

Adreanna enjoys modeling, hiking, learning about holistic nutrition, traveling, going to the gym, and learning to cook. It’s very possible her subpar cooking could burn a house down though, so she’s still working on that one.

Her first career after college as a teacher opened her eyes to how much she truly enjoys working with people and helping them learn. Transitioning to a Peer Mentor position with At The Roots felt very natural to her when she learned that she could use her lived experience to help others overcome their struggles as well.
