WE DO RECOVERY DIFFERENTLY

What is Peer Support?

Peer Support is the oldest form of support - it’s only in recent history that it’s been formalized and made into a profession. Peer support is when a person in recovery utilizes their lived experience to help others experiencing similar challenges.

Sometimes, peer support is simply listening to and connecting with another human. Other times it involves goal setting, wellness planning, mentoring, skill building, and assistance in building natural supports.

However, peer support is non-clinical meaning there is no diagnosis process, treatment plans, etc. and it is 100% voluntary and person-centered. Recovery isn’t the same for everyone so we don’t tell you what it should look like for you.

What do we do?

We offer various options and supportive pathways to recovery from one-on-one sessions with certified peer specialists to group support and sober events!

By cultivating empowering and supportive relationships between those with lived experience, building community in an age when that’s hard to come by, and fostering multiple pathways to wellness, we can help uplift people and walk beside them as they build healthy, happy lives that align with their personal goals and dreams.

We also can act as a resource and advocate for mental health and recovery awareness, provide training and support to businesses, and act as a community space for gathering.

Who are we?

You can read all about our mission, vision, values, and story by clicking HERE. But the short version is that we’re a group of certified peer specialists, certified parent peer specialists, and in-house trained peer mentors who are just trying to be the person we needed at one time or another.

Each of our providers has a different story to tell and a wealth of lived experience to draw on when supporting others. You can read through our bios to learn more about each of us by clicking HERE.

And if you consider yourself in recovery and would like to join our team, you can learn more about contracting with us HERE or about our employee openings HERE.

Is Peer Support for you?

Short Answer: YES!

Long Answer: For some people, a few sessions of peer support is all they need to get things moving in a positive direction and they may choose to utilize it as an ongoing support months at a time. Some people utilize a single session to just talk through an issue that’s bothering them and others come to us on a regular basis to process ongoing stressors and build new coping skills, healthy habits, and new sober hobbies.

For others, peer support is a helpful part of their overall recovery process and they utilize it in conjunction with clinical treatment. Some people find peer support helpful as they transition in to or out of formal therapy or treatment.

Peer Support is NOT a replacement for more intensive clinical therapy, inpatient treatment, or medication. It’s up to you to decide what supports make sense in your recovery journey and we always encourage everyone to talk their doctor.
